Mahottari,Daijo ko nihuma ek jana mahila ko hatya. Mahottari/October 13 Police have retrieved the body of Geeta Devi Raut, 20, on fire in Gonarpura of Meghnath Gorhana VDC-7 at 9 pm on October 12. According to SP Saurav Rana of District Police Office, the police took out the body out the house after dousing the fire on the body. Police and locals alike suspected that Geeta might have been killed by her family members, who were unhappy with her over her dowry. All the family members including her father-in-law Khairu, mother-in-law, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, who were at the house at the time of the murder, are absconding. Her husband Nathuni Raut is in Punjab, India for work. Daughter of Bhumi Raut of Damimarahi VDC-6, she was married to Nathuni on May 30. The body has been taken to District Hospital, Jaleshwar, Inspector Naresh Mahato said. SP Rana said that as all the family members are absconding and the neighbors are unwilling to talk to the police, they were yet to find out the motive behind the murder. The people of four houses near Geeta’s house are also at large. Rana added that in the afternoon of that fateful day, Geeta’s mother had gone her house to take her daughter to Damimarahi but Geeta was not allowed to go. Police assumed that Geeta was killed at around 6 pm after her mother returned. Police have arrested Bise Raut, 30, of Jamuniya in Phulkaha VDC-8 on charge of being involved in the killing.
