One Year Jail for Accused of Child Marriage

Siraha,Baal vivah garne laai 1 barsha jail Siraha/October 12 Pankaj Sah, 25, of Dhangadhi VDC-2 has been sentenced to one year in prison and fined Rs 15,000 after being convicted of marrying a minor girl. The District Judge of Siraha, Binod Kumar Pokharel, in his October 12 verdict, sent another 15-year-old girl to jail for six months and fined Rs 25,000, government attorney Rajesh Kumar Katuwal said. Shova Sah, 22, of Dhangadhi VDC-1 had accused her husband, Pankaj Sah, 25, of marrying Kanchan Sah, 15, of Bayarban VDC-7, Morang on October 16, 2013. She filed the complaint at Lahan Area Police Office on October 24, 2013 and Pankaj was arrested the next day. The District Court remanded him in jail on October 26, 2013, Lahan APO’s Santosh Niraula informed. D
