Farmers of Chitawan staged a demonstration in Narayanghad of Bharatpur metropolitan city in Chitawan on February 24 after the demands of their first phase of the demonstration were not addressed. The demonstrators demanded to impose a ban on import of vegetables and fruits from India, which are produced in sufficient quantity in Nepal, to arrange for easy access to chemical fertilizers, to stop the black market in fertilizers, and to withdraw the decision to reduce the subsidy received by farmers.
