ASI Accused of Beating up Civilian

Kavre, Sarbasadharan lai kutpit gareko ma ASI mathi arop. Ronesh Shrestha, 30, of Bhumlutar VDC-6 has filed a complaint at the District Police Office on October 7 accusing ASI Pradeep Giri of Dolalghat police post of beating him on October 2. The victim has demanded action against ASI Giri saying that he sustained two broken tooth when punched by him at a public place. Shrestha said that ASI Giri attacked him for campaigning against the sand mining at Dolalghat. According to Shrestha, ASI Giri punched him when he tried to shake hands with him. The victim is undergoing treatment at Himal Dental Hospital in Kathmandu. Shrestha said that ASI Giri has also issued threats to a local Sudeep Dhaumandel. Shrestha has filed a complaint at the National Human Rights Commission on October 8. Meanwhile, ASI Giri denied beating Shrestha, saying that he had told Shrestha to go home as he was making noise in inebriated condition. Shrestha is 4 no. regional chairperson of Rastriya Janamukti Party.
