A group of women in Salyan staged a sit-in in front of the district administrative office on February 28 protesting against microfinance institutions. According to the demonstrators, microfinance gave loans under the pretext of increasing the income of the women but the microfinance institution increased the interest rate indirectly promoting modern feudalism. The demonstrators demanded to waive the loans taken collectively, to provide interest-free loans to those with weak financial conditions, and to arrange work and prices based on needs and abilities.
