Kali Bahadur Malla, the INSEC district representative for Kalikot has been assaulted at Manma Bazaar in the district headquarters on October 18. Local journalist Rabindra Shahi informed that he was attacked by a knife by the operators of Shahi Hotel for informing the police that they were running gambling place in the hotel. Police arrested the Shahi Hotel owner Tika Shahi, 32, and Sunita Malla, 23, on charge of being involved in the attack. Injured Malla was treated at District Hospital, Manma. He has sustained injuries on ears, arms, back and head. DSP Laxman Gurung said that due process will be initiated against the accused. Meanwhile, INSEC Mid-Western Regional Office has issued a statement on October 18 demanding action against the perpetrators. FNJ Kalikot also issued a statement condemning the incident.
