Minors 'Tortured' in Police Custody

org SMS ALert: Kapilbastu, Balak lai hirasat ma yatana. Police have tortured four boys in custody on October 24 on charge of thievery, according to father of one of the boys. Jaggu Kohar, 15, Sannu Yadav, 15, Raju Lohar, 16, and Suraj Mallah, 14, of Gaura in Baskhor VDC were tortured by policemen from Area Police Office Pakadi, claimed Shree Ram Yadav, father of Sannu. APO Pakadi arrested Jaggu and Sannu following a complaint against them on charge of theft at the house of Puran Tiwari and Anar Lodh on October 24. Raju and Suraj have been released after interrogation on October 27 while father of Sannu, Shree Ram has been arrested following Sannu's statement that the stolen goods was kept by him. Shree Ram claimed that the police had been keeping them in illegal detention for three days. He accused policemen of kicking the three and beating them up with lathi in order to force them to admit the theft. However, Inspector Shree Ram Kunwar refuted claim of torture in custody. He said that their medical check-up was conducted after arrested.
