A team of human rights activists on October 26 have monitored the incident of death of Madhu Tajpuriya, 57, of Sijuwa VDC-3 in police custody. A joint team of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Biratnagar and INSEC Biratnagar collected details about the incident from police, witnesses, family of deceased and locals. Tajpuriya was kept in custody of Area Police Office Sijuwa on October 24 on charge of creating disturbance under the influence of alcohol where he was found dead. NHRC regional director Kosh Raj Neupane said that steps would be taken for the victim's justice and compensation according to the facts received during the monitoring. INSEC regional coordinator Som Raj Thapa, INSEC Morang representative Sukdev Chaudhary, Devendra Regmi of NHRC, among others were involved in the monitoring team.
