Locals staged a demonstration in Okhaldhunga on May 14, against the contractor of the road who left it unfinished. Locals alleged that the road gravel work from Okhaldhunga headquarters to Nishankhe has been stalled for years. The locals symbolically demonstrated by carrying a banner with a picture of the contractor and dung.

The demonstrators blocked the road at Gorumare Bhanjyang on the Solukhumbu-Okhaldhunga-Harkpur road section. Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded due to road block. Kancharam Construction took the contract four years ago with an agreement to be completed within one year. They complain that the dust blowing on the road has affected the health of the nearby residents due to the fact that the work has not been completed so far despite the extension of the deadline several times.
