Baglung/October 27 Police have arrested Dirgha Prasad Sherchan, 31, head constable of Armed Police Force on October 27 on charge of raping a 33-year-old woman. He has been remanded to custody following district court order. The woman had filed an FIR at the Area Police Office Burtibang on October 24 accusing Sherchan of raping her the same day while she was returning home after cutting grass. The accused was arrested the same day complaint was filed. ASI Shiva Raymajhi of the APO said that the accused could not be taken to the DPO on time as no vehicles plied during the Tihar holidays. The accused is APF head constable at APF Guthi Prasauni in Nawalparasi. Physical and psychological treatment of the victim has been initiated after keeping her at the Emergency Service Center of the Women Development Office.
