District Court of Ilam has slapped eight years and Rs 200,000 of fine to Sudeep Niraula, 18, of Ilam Municipality-9 on November 11 on charge of raping a 17-year-old girl. The accused was remanded in custody on October 20 by a court order. A single bench of District Judge Prakash Dhungana has issued a verdict regarding the case said the District Court registrar Arjun Shrestha. The victim was raped by Niraula in the morning of September 24 while she was going to college.
