A teacher at the Kanakpur VDC-based Simri Primary Secondary School has been hacked to death in Bhasedawa VDC of Rautahat on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Tapasiraya Yadav (25) of Bhasedawa-9. He was a temporary teacher at the school.
Police said that a masked gang of three persons including his colleague of the same school attacked Yadav with a sharp weapon and killed him yesterday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, Yadav was at his house when his friend Ramadhar Yadav telephoned him and called him outside his house, took him to a private place and two masked men started attacking him with a khukuri on his neck and hands among other parts of the body.
The attackers fled away from the scene after critically injured Yadav started shouting for help.
The District Police Office, Rautahat said that Yadav died while being rushed to the Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital, Birgunj for treatment.
Following the incident, teacher Ramadhar and his father are on the run.
Police said that they have started a manhunt to nab the absconding suspects.
