SINDHULIMADHI: A woman was found dead at the bank of Marin stream in Kapilakot of Sindhuli district on Saturday.
According to police, Bidur Karki (26) strangled Dipa Sapkota (24) to death on Friday.
According to police, Dipa Sapkota from Sangla-1 of Kathmandu, an employee at a solar energy company had gone to Sindhuli about 15 days ago for an official purpose.
There, she met Bidur Karki from Rajapani-7 of Khotang district.
“Based on preliminary investigation, they used to dine at the same hotel," said Inspector Naresh Raj Subedi of District Police Office, Sindhuli, "Then they became very close in a short span of time.”
On the day of Balachaturdashi (Friday), Karki proposed the girl to visit local Pashupatinath Temple by the bank of the river. "She accepted Karki’s proposal for the visit," Subedi said, "But that became fatal."
Reaching the spot, he proposed sex with her, but she denied, added Subedi.
“I forced her for sex, but we had a scuffle," Karki reportedly told police, "Then, I hit her with a stone and she fell into the ground.”
“Then I killed her squeezing her throat,” he added.
Karki fled the spot after the incident, but was caught on Sunday from Kapilakot.
Karki was presented to the District Court on Sunday to prosecute under murder charge, said police.
Body of Sapkota has been submitted to her kith and kin after postmortem, added police.
