Siraha/November 26 The district court on November 24 has acquitted Dahut Khan, 35, of Bidhanagar VDC-6 who was in remand on charge of impregnating a girl after raping her. Assistant government attorney Hemchandra Regmi said that district judge Binod Kumar Pokharel issued the verdict. Regmi added that the accused was acquitted as the victim did not appear in court despite repeated calls while the witnesses turned hostile. The 14-year-old girl had filed a complaint at the Area Police Office Lahan in February 2014 claiming that he impregnated her after taking her to India by threatening her. The victim who was a domestic help at the accused's house had filed a case of abduction and taking hostage against him on April 30, 2014. APO Lahan had arrested him the same day. Medical test and age verification of the victim was conducted at the District Hospital two days later. The accused was in remand by the court order of May 25, 2014.
