13 women rescued from traffickers' clutch‚ 17 missing

Ilam,bechbikhan ko laagi lagdai gareko 13 ko uddhar ra 17 lapata. ILAM: A total of 17 women have gone missing from Pashupatinagar border point during the 10-month period from January to October 2014. Complaints about as many women missing from Pashupatinagar border check point, which shares border with India, have been filed at Maiti Nepal, Pashupatinagar. Coordinator of the Maiti Nepal, Pashupatinagar, Hom Dhakal, said 13 women were rescued and handed over to their relatives among 30 who were trafficked to India. They were rescued from Darjeeling, Siliguri and Sikkim of India with the help of police. They were sold to brothels in India. According to Maiti Nepal, search for the 17 missing women is underway. Women from Sindhupalchok, Dolakha, Nuwakot, Sankhuwasabha, Taplejung and other districts are trafficked to India. Maiti Nepal recorded the highest number of complaints from Dolakha and Sindhupalchok districts. Similarly, the organisation rescued 97 women from various border check points during the period and handed them over to their parents.
