Saptari, Balatkar prayash ka aropit lai adhai barsa kaid. Deepak Kumar Sah, 21, of Nakati Raypur VDC-8 has been sent to two and half years in prison for attempting to rape a 19-year-old girl. Single bench of Pushparaj Thapaliya, in its verdict on December 15, also found fault with the police investigation of the case and asked the police to caution subordinate police personnel of no repetition of such mistake. The victim had filed a complaint at District Police Office on August 5 saying that Sah had tried to rape her as she was heading home in the evening after grazing buffalo on August 1. The DPO kept on refusing to register her complaint, yielding only on August 15 by arresting him and filing a rape case against him. Her medical checkup was conducted at Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital, Rajbiraj on August 17. The accused is in Rajbiraj Prison on remand since August 31.
