Dolakha, Hiu ko karan le 2 ko mrityu. The biting cold triggered by snow and rainfall has continued taking its toll for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday. Two people reportedly died of hypothermia in Dolakha and Jajarkot districts while normal life was crippled nationwide. According to our local correspondent in Dolakha, 65-year-old Nara Bahadur Nepali of Japhe-6 died of severe cold. Nepali, who eked out his living as a beggar, died at Bhirkot, police said. In Jajarkot, Nara Bahadur Kami, 45, was found dead outside his house in Khalanga-1 on Tuesday morning. Police said the man, who slept there as he was heavily drunk, died of hypothermia. In Rukum, people were confined to houses due to snowfall in northern VDCs in the district. There was a thick blanket of snow in Taksera, Maikot, Jang, Kada, Gotamkot, Morabang, Syalkhadi, Sisne and Hukam, among other VDCs, in the district. Villagers are having a hard time managing fodder for their cattle. More than 100 families have been stranded in their animal sheds in highland as the snowfall disrupted their movement, police said. Similarly, life was greatly affected due to snowfall in northern parts of Baitadi and Darchula districts in the Far West. Transportation was disrupted in various places in the area as snow piled up on the road. In Rasuwa, tourists gradually left Langtang area owing to the continuous snowfall. Pasang Tamang, a local resident, told the Post over telephone that almost all tourists left the area following snowfall. The area is covered by three-foot layer of snow. Similarly, snowfall in various other mountain districts and rains in hill and Tarai district put life out of gear. People were seen making bonfire to beat the cold. People were seen enjoying with snow at a few places in mountain districts.
