The Morang District Court has sentenced three persons, including a 14-year-old boy, to 10 years in jail convicting them of gang-raping a 36-year-old woman. A single bench of Judge Rishiram Niraula on Wednesday issued the verdict against Laxman Limbu, 20, Nat Bahadur Limbu, 24, and the teenager. All the convicts are the residents of Letang, Morang. The court also ordered the convicts to provide the victim Rs 50,000 each in compensation. The court has halved the sentence for the minor. His name is kept undisclosed as per the law. The married woman of Letang was gang-raped on the bank of the Chisang stream on May 31. She was returning home from Letang Bazaar in the evening. They had threatened her with death if she reported the incident to others. Police had filed a case against the suspects in the court after the victim lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office, Letang.
