Journalist Assaulted over Published News

Morang, Patrakar mathi kuitpit tatha durbewahar. Brahma Dev Yadav, guest editor of Biratnagar Weekly and general member of Morang chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has been beaten up by staffs of the Sunsari-Morang Irrigation Project on December 24. Yadav, 35, was called 'for discussion' at the office of the Irrigation Project by engineers Tara Paudel, Kedar Tiwari, Prem Chandra Jha and a team, including assistant Sudhir regarding publication of the news of corruption at the irrigation project. He has sustained injuries to his face and back when assaulted by the group. According to Yadav, the staffs called him to their office under the pretext of holding a discussion regarding the published news piece and thrashed him after locking him inside a room. The victim is learnt to have undergone treatment at Koshi Zonal Hospital in Biratnagar. Police have arrested Paudel and Jha among the accused.
