, Coordinator of the Free Madhes Alliance Dr. CK Raut and some of his supporters have been detained again in Biratnagar today and were released only at 7:45 pm. Earlier at least one person was hospitalized for treatment after police lathi-charge. Reportedly CK Raut was given permission on Jan. 2 at 4:15 pm by DAO,Morang to stage his Political Assembly at Biratnagar. After getting permission from the DAO, Raut's supporters had started announcing the local people there to attend the Political Assembly of Dr.Raut- after which three supporters of Dr.Raut had been arrested by Morang Police, local HRDs said to Terai Human Rights Defenders Alliance (THRDA). Today before the Assembly started the venue was captured by Police. The mass who were coming to attend the assembly were beaten and scattered by the police, HRDs informed. One person has been hospitalized at Neuro Hospital Biratnagar for his injuries sustained. Although police intervened, Dr. Raut came to address the mass on the slated time i.e 12:30 pm. Police arrested him after just he has started delivering his speech. No arrest warrant was given to him while arresting. Recently he has been kept in DySP Office, Morang. He and his supporters were released around 7:45 pm the same day Ekantipur reports that the DAO Morang had banned the mass gathering of Free Madhes Alliance on Saturday.
