Accused human trafficker sentenced 20 years in prison

Sukman Tamang, 20, of Ghyangphedi VDC-6 has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on charge of trafficking two women, aged 26 and 27, in India. District Judge Kiran Prasad Siwakoti said that the available evidence proved Tamang’s offence. Tamang has also been fined Rs 100,000. As per Section 17 of the Anti-trafficking act, Tamang has been asked to pay the victims Rs 50,000 each as compensation. A group of three including Tamang had sold the women in India on August 12, 2008. An organized managed to rescue them on March 18, 2003. Other two accused remain absconding.
