As many as 15 children were rescued from India and handed over to their respective parents at the family reconciliation programme organised at District Police Office, Gaur, in Rautahat, today. The children, who have been engaged in very risky work in India since long, were brought to Nepal yesterday night. Nirdesh, an organisation, had rescued the children from India. The children, who had been working in a bag factory in Bangalore, have been identified as Upendra Kumar Sah, 10, of Jatahara; Mohammad Asalam, 10, and Miraj Alam, 15 of Rajpur Phardahawa; Sartaj Miya, 12, of Jhunkunwa; and Mahammad Saidi, 16, and Mohammad Aftab, 17, of Narkatiya were rescued and brought to a protection centre in Muzaffarpur one month ago. The organisation had also rescued Dilip Sah, 14, Shrawan Kumar Patel, 16, of Gaur Municipality; Roman Sah, 13, Aauraiya, Diplal Paswan, 14, of Siawa; Nitesh Kumar Patel, 14, and Pramod Patel, 12, of Tikuliya; Shek Sahajad, 16, and Indal Mukhiya, 14, of Akolwa; and Bijaya Mukhiya, 13, of Bishrampur from Muzaffarpur Railway Station and Nepal-India border, Chainpur, and were kept in a protection home. The rescued children were counselled at Muzaffarpur Protection Home and handed over to their respective parents/guardians at a family reconciliation programme in District Police Office, Gaur, said SP Sanubabu Thapaliya. He suggested that parents/guardians of the children provide them education rather than send for risky work. Syatendra Singh, secretary of the organisation, brought the children to Nepal and handed them over to police. He said many children had left for jobs due to poverty and some parents/guardians had sent their wards for risky work.
