District Court of Nuwakot has sentenced Ramesh Tamang, 22, of Ghyangphedi VDC-3 and Ramesh Tamang Thing, 24, of same VDC-4 each for 10 years on the charge of attempting to traffic a 19-year-old girl in India. The single bench of District Court Judge Kiran Prasad Siwakoti also fined Rs 100,000 to each of the accused as per the Human Trafficking Act 2064. In the same decision, the court also issued an order of Rs 50,000 as a compensation amount to the victim from each of the accused, registrar Rakesh Mani Upadhyaya said. The victim was rescued from Kharanitaar in Nuwakot on May 6 while being on a trafficking trail to India. She had gone missing since April 13. The accused were arrested by the police on May 6 and were remanded in custody by court order on May 27.
