Maoist Banda brings the Nation to a halt.

(Update) A general strike called by UCPN (Maoist)-led 30 party alliance and CPN-Maoist has affected normal life across the country. Vehicles have remained off the road and market areas, industries, educational institutes remained shut due to the strike. Various places in the country remained shut due to the strike. The strike has little effect in the Bardiya district while banda enforcers have been taking out rally shouting slogans and shutting down the market area in Ramechhap district. The alliance has called the strike demanding the constitution be drafted on consensus and not by following the CA procedures. They have also demanded single-identity-based federalism in the constitution. 

(updated) According to the information provided by Badri Prashad Siwakoti who is the coordinator of Demonstration Monitoring Network and is involved in monitoring today's bandha organized by the 30 party alliance and CPN-Maoist, the list of those arrested and injured during today's bandha from different places is as following: Koteshwor-10 arrested 2 injured Baneshwor-1 arrested Gongabu-9 arrested Ratnapark- 5 arrested in the morning, 12 including Bandha Coordinator Ramesh Malla arrested during the day, all arrested are being held at Mahendra Police Club. It has been also learned that the bandha has also affected all terai districts from Jhapa to Kanchanpur.
