The participants of an interaction program in Nepalgunj on January 13 have complained that reluctance by the government to implement the recommendations of the NHRC has been depriving the victims of justice. The interaction program was organized by NHRC to discuss its strategic planning 2015-20 and attended by NHRC chairperson Anup Raj Sharma and member Mohana Ansari among others. Addressing the program, chairperson Sharma said that even in case of no promulgation of the constitution, the citizens' human rights should be protected. Speaking at the same program, NHRC member Mohana Ansari said that the absence of commissioners, inadequate human resources had affected NHRC's performance. NHRC's acting secretary Bed Prasad Bhattarai said that the rights body was currently more engaged in the economic, social and cultural rights more than its past engagement in civil and political rights.
