Women arrested on accusation of abandoning baby

A woman has been arrested by Nepal Police on the charge of abandoning her new-born baby girl here in Saptari. Geeta Devi Rajak, 23 of Rajbiraj Municipality has been arrested on the charge of abandoning her 5-day-old daughter in a canal nearby her home on January 24. After seeing the baby, locals had informed the police. Four hours later police arrested Geetadevi Rajak. Geeta Devi claimed that she had abandoned the baby because of poverty. She already has two daughters and her husband is in Malaysia for employment.
