District Court of Pyuthan sentenced a man to three months in prison on February 1 on the charges of marrying an underage girl. Gopal Thedi Magar, 19, of Raspurkot VDC-6 eloped with a 14-year-old girl of the same place on November 23, 2014. The girl’s mother filed a complaint against him at District Police Office on November 24. Thedi Magar was arrested by the police on November 25 and a case of child marriage was filed against him on December 19. District Court Judge Bishnu Prasad Upadhaya decided to send him to prison for three months and fined Rs 4,000, District Court Registrar Rudramani Giri said.
