Chairperson of NGO Federation Sharmila Karki has said that it is difficult to make people understand that the rights of women, Dalit, and people with disabilities are also human rights. Speaking at the inauguration of the Kick-off Meeting on "Strengthening Human Rights Defenders and Civil Societies for the Promotion of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of Discriminated Groups in Nepal" organized by INSEC on March 12, she expressed her views. She further said that the rights of women should [...] be raised by all human rights defenders, not only by women. She stressed all organizations' collaborative efforts for the protection of the rights of marginalized communities. Bijay Raj Gautam, Executive Director of INSEC emphasized on joint efforts of all partner organizations for the success of the project. He added that INSEC has always been fighting for the rights of women, Dalit, and people with disabilities. David Smith, regional representative of DCA expressed the belief that the project would be a success, saying that INSEC has long experience of working with marginalized communities. He said that the DCA would help in the capacity building of the partners. Chakra Man Biswokarma, Chairperson of Dalit Sewa Sangh said that the project would be very useful as Dalit, women, and people with disabilities are more victimized in the present situation of impunity. The program supported by the European Union and DCA would conclude on March 14. 35 participants are attending the training.
