(update) FNJ has set up a mission to investigate a case involving Nagarik FM in which the director of FM Shyam Bhatta was beaten up by Chand-led CPN Maoist during a dispute over the wage of Nagarik FM's former employee Diya Chand. A meeting of the FNJ Secretariat has been set up an investigation mission under vice-chairman Anita Bindu. FNJ Secretary Sangita Khadka, Central committee member Khagendra Pant, former vice-chairman Chitranga Thapa and Chairman of FNJ(Kanchanpur) Laxman Tiwari has been appointed as a member in the investigative mission. In a press note released, FNJ Secretary Dharmendra Karn informed that the mission has been tasked with the responsibility of ensuring the protection of journalists and solving the case promptly. Cadres of Chand-led CPN Maoist beat journalist Shyam Bhatta on March 12 during a discussion over Nagarik FM's former employee Diya Chand. She had repeatedly reported not received her wage for 9 months. She had also written to the FNJ about it. Meanwhile, Shyam Bhatta has filed a complaint against 7 cadres of CPN Maoist including district secretary Dil Bahadur Bika, Dipak Saud, Rajendra Bista, and Bhuwan Kunwar in the police.
