Biplav-Maoist captures land in Rupandehi

Netra Bikram Chanda aka Biplav-led CPN-Maoist has captured the land of civilians claiming it was the part of people’s revolution. The group’s Abadh State Committee coordinator and central member Chandra Bahadur Chand Birjung led the capture of three bighas and char kaththas of land at Chethari in Sainamaina Municipality-1 on March 27. Chand along with Basant Shrestha and district in-charge of Sharad Oli among 50 others had declared the capture. The land plot is located about 600 meters south of the East-West Highway. The land is jointly owned by Chintamani and Tikaram Pandey which the group claimed was owned by land mafia. Sharad Oli, the party district secretary said that the land was captured as per the group’s policy of capturing the land mafia’s land. He added that such a step would be intensified adding the agitation program of his group would be expanded to the whole nation. Soon after the group hoisted their flag, the police from Ranyaura Area Police Office pulled down the flag. The land owned by the brothers earlier had a mango orchard but now remains barren. It is learnt that Biplav-Maoist had asked Rs 3.5 lakh in donation from Pandey brothers and when they expressed inability to pay, their land was captured. SP Rajendra Dhakal of District Police Office said that no one has the right to breach the law. He added that anybody violating laws whether in the name of agitation or revolution and anyone going against it will be dealt with legally.
