Federation of Nepalese Journalists and Press Chautari have issued separate statements on March 29 demanding an investigation into the killing of journalist Ram Prasad Bhattarai aka Sachin, 26, of Triyuga Municipality-2, Udaypur. FNJ Udaypur chairperson Kushalbabu Basnet signed a statement claimed that Bhattarai was killed and demanded finding out about his killing. His body was found lying on Koshi Highway with severe head injuries at Itahari Municipality-26 on March 25. He could be identified only on March 29. Press Chautari Nepal’s Koshi Zonal In-charge Lilaraj Bhattarai, Sunsari chairperson Devendra Karki, Morang chairperson Ram Chandra Adhikari and Udaypur chairperson Bharat Khadka also issued a joint statement on March 29 asking for an investigation into his death. Police have arrested Bhattarai’s nephew Rajendra Parajuli, who left Udaypur tighter with the deceased, has been detained by the police for investigation.
