2015-04-09

Madhes, Rautahat, Gaur, Ward 2

The alliance of 30 opposition parties led by UCPN (Maoist) has pulled back its protest at Gaur on Thursday. The decision comes after the top leaders of the opposition parties assured the local politicians of bringing up the demands of Gaur residents for solution at the central level. The locals of Gaur led by Rautahat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) took to agitation on March 16 protesting against the government decision to extend the few administrative services from Gaur to Chandranigahapur. The protest intensified after one Ram Aashish Thakur died when the AFP van struck him accidentally. The agitators demanded Martyr status to Thakur and roll back the government’s decision of extending the administrative services. The CCI led protest was called off after the local administration assured in writing to meet the demands on Tuesday night. However, the alliance of 30 opposition parties had decided to continue the protest saying that the CCI withdrew the protest before the demands of local people were met.
