2015-04-10

Gandaki, Baglung, Baglung, Ward 2

Folk singer Ramji Nepali has been attacked by cadres of CPN-UML here in Baglung. Ramji was attacked on Friday in his uncle's house in Baglung municipality-9 one day before the slated Bi-election in constituency 1 of Baglung district. After being rescued by a troop of policemen deployed by DPO Baglung he is undergoing treatment at Dhaulagiri Zonal hospital in Baglung. Ramji is a supporter of the Nepali Congress and was campaigning through his songs for Nepali Congress bi-election candidate Champa Devi Khadka. According to Ramesh Nepali, uncle of Ramji, cadres of UML called him outside the house saying that they had to meet him and suddenly attacked him. Nepali Congress chairman of Baglung Jagdish Chandra Upadhyaya blamed the attack on UML cadres Bidur Bohora, Dipu Bohora, Sunil KC, Tak Bahadur Bohora, and Karna Bohora. However UML has denied the accusation saying that its cadres had not actually attacked Ramji, but only a little push and shove had occurred. Police are currently investigating the case.
