Clash between the Police and UML cadres in Baglung

(Update)--A clash occurred on Saturday night between police and UML cadres who had reached the District Police Office demanding the release of their fellow cadres arrested during the Constituent Assembly (CA)-election. Chairman of UML Baglung Chapter Shree Prasad Sharma claimed 20 cadres of the party were injured in the clash. Among the injured, Dev Bohara, Suman Bohara, Jyoti Bohara, and Sampanna Shrestha have sustained serious injuries, said UML leader Ram Krishna Sharma, adding Dev was taken to Pokhara for further treatment. 

(Updated)--Govinda Nepali, an alternate central member of the CPN-UML, has gone on a hunger strike to demand the release of his cadres. He started a hunger strike in front of the Nepali District Police Office, Baglung on Monday morning. Nepali said that the strike will continue until the arrested innocent cadres are released. After the discussion in the police administration could not be resolved, Nepali went on a hunger strike.

Ramji Nepali of Baglung Municipality-8, who was injured in an attack by UML cadres before the election, was taken to Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara for further treatment. Police arrested UML cadres Tak Bahadur Bohara, Karna Bahadur Bohara, Pappu Bohara, Bidur Bahadur Bohara, and Karna Bahadur Bohara on the charge of beating Nepali. He said that there was no other option  to release his cadres hence resorting to hunger strike."

UML has demanded to solve all the problems in a package saying that Congress cadres attacked the house of UML district secretariat member Prem KC in Titang VDC.CPN-UML's Sampan Shrestha, Aashiq Bohora, Suman Bohora, Jyoti Nepali, Ganesh Thapa Magar, and Dilli Raj Gautam were injured in a clash between police and UML cadres. Police arrested Dipendra Baskota in the same incident. Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Shesh Narayan Poudel said that a person arrested by going on a hunger strike, holding a procession, or forcibly cannot be released. The legal process will move forward until the aggrieved party gives a waiver, 'Poudel said.' The problem can only be resolved if there is an agreement between the two parties. He said that nowhere in the law is it written that a person in jail should be released after going on a hunger strike.
