Ram Prasad Acharya, 42, and working as office assistant at the community eye center run by Nepal Redcross Society Surkhet has attempted to rape a 12-year-old visually impaired girl.
According to an appeal filed by the victim at the Nepal Blind Association (NBA) Surkhet, Acharya tried to rape her at the hostel for the blind students near buspark in Birendranagar Municipality on November 11.
Chairperson of NBA Surkhet, Maya Prasad Jaisi said that the girl allowed Acharya to sleep in a separate room after he asked her to let her sleep in the hostel saying that the traffic police had not allowed him to go home that night. "But he came to the girl's room in the night and attempted to rape her," Maya said, adding that she managed to save herself by running to another room.
Maya informed that she came to know about the incident only after the victim told a staff of NBA Laxmi Malla about the incident. He added that a complaint has been filed against Acharya at the district administration office Surkhet on November 24.
Inspector Rabin Karki of the district police office Surkhet said that search for the accused was on.
