Bagmati, Kathmandu, Chandragiri, Ward 2

Metropolitan Police Sector Office, Nagdhunga on Thursday rescued four boys of 8-10 years of age from Nagdhunga, a major exit-entry point in Kathmandu, while they were allegedly being trafficked to India to work as child laborers at a hotel. The police have also arrested a woman on suspicion of attempting to traffick the young boys. The boys said the woman told them that they would get good food and nice clothes in India. The arrested has been identified as Roma Maya Jimba of Makawanpur district. She currently resides in Aarubari of Kathmandu. "As soon as we laid eyes on the woman and the four boys during our regular security checking of the vehicles, we suspected there was something fishy. The bus (Na 3 Kha 2913) was bound for New Delhi," said the sub-inspector Tara Krishna Bhattarai, the in-charge of the Sector Office. After the boys tried to avoid our minor queries and sought consent of the woman to talk to us, our suspicion grew even stronger, he said. The woman has confessed to police that she had collected the boys from various places in Kathmandu through different channels to take them to work in a hotel in India, according to police. The woman and four boys were sent to Metropolitan Police Circle Office, Thankot with support from Maiti Nepal for further investigation. Police said every month tens of boys and girls are trafficked to India.
