33-year-old Ramu Tharu was severely assaulted by three soldiers of Ranashardul Company, deputed for the security of Baridya National Park. According to Tharu, he was assaulted by the soldiers at Mahendra Highway, Rambhapur in Magaragadi VDC-8 around 5 pm on April 19. Tharu identified assaulting soldiers as Rameshwar KC, Manoj Karki, and Shukra Narayan Shrestha. Tharu said that he asked his friend to move quickly as they were passing by the army post at the National Park which the soldiers took offense thinking he was instructing the soldiers. He said that the soldiers kicked him and hit him with a belt leaving bruises on the back. Following the incident, the locals blocked the highway demanding action against the perpetrators and treatment expenses for the injured. Commenting on the incident, CDO Binod Bahadur Kunwar said that he had no idea of the incident adding he would initiate step for his treatment and action against the perpetrators after investigating the incident.
