Gokarna Singh Thakuri, a cadre of Nepali congress youth wing Tarun Dal has been killed in Kalika VDC-8 of Dolpa during a dispute with cadres of CPN-UML over the construction of Triveni-Kalika section of the local road. Gokarna Singh died on the spot after being hit by a stone by the cadres of CPN-UML. Gokarna Singh who was representing the villagers was demanding the participation of all villagers in the construction of the Triveni-Kalika section of the road, while cadres of CPN-UML who were also the members of the consumer's group formed for the road construction were adamantly against it. Preliminary investigation by the police showed that this might have been the reason behind the clash which killed Gokarna Singh. The tension between Nepali Congress and CPN-UML had surfaced right from the beginning when the consumer's group was being formed.
