Gang raids houses in Saptari‚ two injured

 Two persons were injured while property worth 2.5 million rupees was robbed by a group in Saptari yesterday night. A group of masked men had robbed the houses of Dr. Mahendra Chaudhary, Bidhyanand Chaudhary, and Soti Miya in Shambhunath municipality at around mid-night. According to Miya, brandishing weapons, the group had locked all his family members in a room before looting his house. “We had reported to Rupani police about the robbery from inside the room. However, nobody came to our rescue although we had informed the police in time,” said Miya, adding that Rupani Police Post was only 4km away from his house. The robbers made off with 1 million rupees from Miya’s house. They then went to rob the houses of Dr. Chaudhary and Bidhyananda. Valuables and cash worth 1.5 million were looted from the duo’s houses. The robbers are said to have fled to India. Dr. Mahendra and Bidhyanand, who received injuries while trying to fight off the robbers, are undergoing treatment at a local health facility.
