Abducted boy freed after 4 weeks in Rautahat

Police succeeded in freeing an abducted 15-year-old boy from the Indian town of Bargauniya bordering with Rautahat district on Wednesday. The boy identified as Shivan Patel from Gaur Municipality-5 of Rautahat was abducted four weeks ago. A woman was arrested in connection with the abduction. Nepali police personnel with the help of Indian police secured the release of Patel on Tuesday night from a house belonging to Ram Babu Yadav in Sitamarhi, India, and handed him over to his parents. Yadav is also currently under police custody for investigation. Patel was abducted when he was in the  Bargainiya market with his friends on April 29. The boys went across the border to repair a mobile phone after attending their tuition class. The kidnappers made several calls to his father Bijaya’s phone from different Indian numbers demanding Rs 10 million in ransom for his release. Police managed to reach the place where the boy was held up by tracing the Indian number. Sitamarhi district SP Hari Prasad actively helped in tracking down the abductors, said Guar Superintendent of Police, Sanu Babu Thapaliya.
