Ex-DSP Chand, accused in Jamim Shah murder case, arrested

 Police have arrested fugitive former DSP Jagadish Chand in connection with the murder of media baron Jamim Shah, on Saturday. Shah, Chairman of Spacetime Network Pvt. Ltd., was shot dead by an Indian underworld gang in broad daylight in the busy street of Lajimpat of the capital while he was heading toward his home in Panipokhari on February 7, 2010. Chand, who was on the run after the crime, arrested six years after the crime from his Minbhawan-based house last night, police confirmed. Chand had allegedly involved in planning the murder of Shah and worked as an accomplice to Deepak Shahi alias Babbu, who allegedly masterminded the murder of media baron Shah. The police investigation had revealed then that Chand was found to have been in repeated contact with Babu. Chand had fled Kathmandu and gone out of contact 22 days after the incident following police investigation revealed his involvement in the murder on the ground of his connection established through call details. Earlier, Nepal Police had also issued a red corner notice against him. "Chand is in our custody in connection with Shah murder case and we are still in the investigation phase," said SSP Sarbendra Khanal, chief of Metropolitan Police Crime Division, told Myrepublica.
