Elderly couple ‘expelled’ from house by children

2015-07-05

Gandaki, Lamjung, Besishahar

An elderly couple from Beshisahar Municipality-12 of Lamjung have filed a complaint at the District Administration Office against their three sons who allegedly kicked them out from their house. Krishna Bahadur Rawal, 80, and his wife Masurikumari, 71, said that they became homeless at the hands of their own children. The properties owned by the couple were long transferred to the names of their three sons and four daughters. Masurikumari said their eldest son, Dhana Bahadur, even barred them from building a hut on a land owned by one of their daughters. “We are living in a shed owned by our second son, Hari, who is an Indian Army soldier. Our youngest son, Shambhu, is also a serving in the Nepal Army. He is stationed in Kathmandu,” she said. Krishna Bahadur said all of their daughters are married and live with their families. “We have no place to go, nor the money to buy ourselves a decent meal,” he said. Chief District Officer Shrawan Kumar Timalsina said he has instructed the District Police Office to look into the matter. “We are also trying to contact the couple’s children to find out the truth,” he said.
