A patient died two minutes after a fake doctor administered injection on him, in Bhalohiya of Rautahat on Friday. Following the incident, anguished locals took Rabi Ahmed from Saitpurba, Sitamarhi district of Bihar state in India, who had been operating an ayurvedic clinic at Pipara Bazaar for the last 25 years, under control and handed him over to the Area Police Office, Ganga Pipara yesterday night. Rafik Miya (50) of Bhalohiya-2 was taken to the clinic run by Ahmed for treatment after his health deteriorated all of a sudden. DSP Chandan Singh of the Area Police Office, Ganga Pipara, said that Miya died two minutes after Ahmed administered a vial of the injection without any brand name. “As soon as Ahmed entered the room, he took the vial without the brand name out of a bag and pulled the medicine from it full of air bubbles and injected the medicine,” Miya’s daughter said. DSP Singh informed that the fake doctor has been sent to the District Police Office, Gaur for further investigations. According to a preliminary investigation, Ahmed had done several similar mistakes in the past as well. Police said that he also used to conduct illegal abortion in the district. During the investigation, police found that Ahmed had been operating the clinic without any license. Like Ahmed, many fake doctors can be found operating clinics in Sukdev Chowk, Shiva Nagar, Katahariya, Samanpur, Simrabhawanipur, Junglesahiya, Bankun, and Rajpurfar among other remote areas of the district, Chairman of the Elderly Citizens’ Association and Civil Society Secretary, Rautahat Chapter, Bijay Kishor Jha informed, adding none of the concerned authorities have taken action against them.
