Citing that the first draft of the constitution was against the Madhesis, cadres of the United Madhesi Democratic Alliance in Saptari have burnt draft copies of the statute here on Saturday. Cadres of the alliance confiscated and burnt draft copies of the statute in half dozen VDCs including Deuri, Bhardaha, Bathanaha, Itahari, Bishnupur, Kochabakhari and Boriya VDC. The local administration had planned to organize feedback collection program on draft statute at ward level in Saptari on Friday. But the program had to be postponed to Saturday. As a preparation to disrupt this program cadres of the alliance had reached different VDCs and burnt the draft copies of the statute. Reportedly the locals had also assisted the cadres in burning the draft copies after they were informed that the draft was not in favour of Madhesis.
