Nepali youth mysteriously died in India, 6 people arrested while smuggling stone statues in the Nepal-India border

A Nepali youth was found dead in Mekadiya gaun near the Nepal-India border side. 22-year-old Khadka Bahadur Shahi of Tikhalaye VDC-5, Kalikot died under suspicious circumstances. According to the Indian police, Khadka Bahadur was drowned while he was trying to escape after stealing the historical statue. Even the Indian post-mortem that has been provided shows that cause for his death is drowning. But the family members have claimed that the report is false and have requested for a recheck of the body in District hospital Bardiya after listening to accounts from locals. The second post-mortem found wounds to his eyes, but the cause of death remained inconclusive as the body was already in a state of decay. The victim's family demanded to investigate the case properly and give a harsh punishment to the perpetrators. According to Superintendent of Police, Bardiya, Pradip Kumar Pal, Khadkha Bahadur Shahi were arrested by Indian Border Security Force together with 4 other people from Kalikot when they were trying to smuggle two stone statues, the detainees are Tirtha Bahadur Shahi, Anil Bahadur Shahi , Lok Bahadur Shahi, and Sher Bahadur shah. One Rajesh Shahi of Surkhet is still on the run.
