Parliament demands immediate arrest of people involved in incidents of Human Sacrifice

(Update)---Lawmakers in today's meeting of the Legislature-Parliament demanded that the government take immediate action against those involved in the murder of a 10-year-old child in Nawalaparasi on July 21. Saying the local administration did not take action against the culprits, who are still roaming free, they stressed that the bodies concerned should be serious in this regard. The lawmaker from Nepali Congress, Dev Karan Prasad Kalwar, urged the government to make arrangements of necessary compensation to the family of the child and added that those encouraging people to carry out such heinous crimes against humanity should be brought to justice. Similarly, Ananda Prasad Pokharel of the CPN-UML said that Dolkha district is disconnected from Kathmandu as the flood swept away Bailey bridge at Charange. He also demanded to make arrangements for a bridge there soon. Demanding further arrangement of relief to quake-survivors immediately, Pokharel objected over the non-transparent role of the National Planning Commission. Another lawmaker Mohan Tudu drew the attention of the government over shifting border pillars from the Indian side at different parts of Jhapa district. Chairperson of the Women, Children, Senior Citizen, and Social Welfare Committee, Ranju Kumari Jha, presented a report of the Committee on 'Anti-Witchcraft (crime and punishment) Bill-2072 BS in the meeting today. The next meeting of the Legislature-parliament is scheduled for 3:00 pm.

Locals in Parasi as well as the family and kin of murdered Jivan Kohar , have today demonstrated in Parasi, demanding with the authorities concerned to bring the culprits in this case to book. Hundreds of Nawalparasi folks, including children and elderly, demonstrated and picketed the District Court and the District Administration Office in Nawalparasi district, pressing for stern action against the chief culprit Kodai Harijan as well as his 10 other accomplices on July 28.
