Action Taken Against Cop Involved in Thrashing Journo

Action has been taken against head constable Giriraj BC, who had thrashed Obiraj Acharya, 28 of Nepalgunj Municipality-17. Acharya, producer cum proprietor of Nepalgunj based Bageshwori FM is mid and far western correspondent of Sagarmatha FM.

As the part of action in connection to the incident, BC's promotion has been hold and he has been transferred. A letter has been sent to the police headquarters in Kathmandu to prevent any kind of promotion of BC for next two years on December 1, said Banke DSP Uday Tamang, adding that BC has also paid Rs. 50,000 against the goods lost by journalist Acharya during the incident.

BC, who was on duty in Bheri Zonal Hospital, had beat up journalist Acharya on November 22.
