Supporters of undivided mid-west vandalize government offices in Surkhet

More than half dozen government offices in Surkhet have been vandalized by the supporters of undivided mid-west today morning who have imposed bandh in Surkhet protesting the boundary demarcation of states. The protest movement has turned violent after the protesters resorted to vandalism and arson. The protesters have vandalized DAO, Land revenue office, District Education Office and District Forest Office. Similarly, the protesters have also set fire in the offices of the main parties, CPN-UML and UCPN Maoist. Documents and other items kept in the CPN-UML office have been burnt to ashes. Protesters clashed with police when their attempt to set fire in Nepali Congress office was obstructed by the police. Protesters also attacked the house of Congress leader Purna Bahadur Khadka and set a local bus on fire. Police fired several rounds in the air to take the situation under control. The situation in Surkhet remains very tense at the moment.
