Departmental action has been taken against Inspector Niranjan Thapa who is accused of thrashing Ujjyalo 90 network and Hulaki News reporter. SP Ganesh Bahadur Thapa has also apologized on August 10 for the incident. SP Thapa said Inspector Thapa has been transferred to Regional Police Office, Biratnagar. Mahato was beaten up by the police team led by Inspector Thapa as the journalists were covering the unrest ensued during the collection of feedback on the constitution on July 20. INSEC district representative had managed to save Mahato as nearly 20 policemen were beating him. Ram Ekwal Mahara, the FNJ Dhanusha member said that the FNJ called off the protest after the SP apologized and Inspector transferred.
