100 banda enforcers arrested

Police have arrested 100 banda enforcers from different parts of the Kathmandu Valley. 30 banda enforcers including co-chairman of the Federal Socialist Forum (Nepal) Rajendra Shrestha were held from Bhotahity in Kathmandu while others were arrested from various parts of the Valley, SP Bishworaj Pokheral informed Setopati. The arrestees are held at Maharajgunj police station. Banda jointly called by the CPN-Maoist led by Mohan Baidya, Madhesh-centric parties and indigenous groups as a protest against the six federal provinces proposed in the draft constitution has affected life across the country. Banda enforcers vandalized a private car (Ba 5 cha 4778 ) belonging to journalist Rishi Dhamala in front of Bir Hospital in the capital. Likewise, a passenger bus with registration number Ba 2 kha 9661 was vandalized in Babarmahal before police intervened. In Chitwan, three vehicles were vandalized. Roads in the Kathmandu Valley have remained mostly empty since early morning.
